Jerusalem & Dead Sea Break

Upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Tel Aviv. Overnight in Tel Aviv.

This morning we’ll leave Tel Aviv via Ashdod and Ashkelon to Beersheba, for a short visit to the Negev’s capital. Through Arad we’ll make our way to Masada and ascend by cable car to the mountain fortress, the last stronghold of the Jewish Zealots in their war against the Romans. We’ll visit the excavations, Herod’s palaces, the synagogue, bathhouse and cisterns while hearing the tragic story of events that took place here. From the top you’ll have a breathtaking view of the Roman camps and the Dead Sea below. Descend for a float in the salty waters of the world’s lowest place – the Dead Sea, where you can also cover yourself with the mineral-rich black mud. Next we’ll pass the oasis of Ein Gedi and Qumran, site of the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, and proceed through the Judean mountains to Jerusalem. Overnight in Jerusalem

Today we’ll begin at Mount Scopus for a magnificent panoramic view of Jerusalem, descending to the Garden of Gethsemane and the Basilica of the Agony at the foot of the Mount of Olives. At the Israel Museum’s Shrine of the Book you’ll view the famous Dead Sea Scrolls and visit a beautiful model of the Herodian city of Jerusalem as it appeared the time of the Second Temple. Next we’ll visit Yad Vashem, the nation’s memorial to victims of the Holocaust. In the afternoon we’ll drive to the picturesque village of Ein Karem, the traditional birthplace of John the Baptist. Entering through one of the Gates to the walled Old City, today you’ll visit the renewed Jewish Quarter, the Western Wall, the Temple Mount area (entrance to the mosques is not included) and the colorful, teeming bazaars. We’ll walk along the Via Dolorosa (Way of Sorrows), stopping at the Stations of the Cross and ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. At Mt. Zion, we’ll visit the tomb of King David, the Room of the Last Supper and Dormition Abbey. This afternoon we’ll drive to Bethlehem to visit the celebrated Church of the Nativity and Manger Square. Overnight in Jerusalem.

After check out, you’ll transfer to the airport for departure
