On your arrival in Jerusalem, check in to your hotel.

We’ll start the day with a magnificent overview of Jerusalem and the Judea desert from Mount Scopus. Entering the Old City, we’ll visit the Tomb of King David on Mount Zion, walk along the Cardo (the ancient Roman road) and view the remains of Jerusalem from the first temple period. You’ll visit the Jewish Quarter, the Wailing Wall (the Kotel), and witness Bar-Mitzvah ceremonies solidifying millennia of Jewish heritage. A visit to the Davidson Center and tour of the southern Kotel excavations will bring to a close our exploration of ancient Jerusalem. Moving outside the walls, we’ll visit Ammunition Hill, a former Jordanian army stronghold, now a national memorial site and drive on to Mount Herzl and Yad Vashem, the Jewish nation’s memorial to the Holocaust.

We’ll begin the day with a drive to the Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of the city. Stopping at Mount Zion, we’ll visit King David’s Tomb, the Room of the Last Supper and Dormition Abbey. Entering the Old City, we’ll walk through the Armenian and Jewish quarters to the recently excavated and restored Cardo, site of the original Roman road. You’ll stand before the Jewish Wailing Wall, the Kotel, and continue into the Christian quarter, walking along the Via Dolorosa to the Church of Holy Sepulchre. Leaving the walls of ancient Jerusalem for the New City, we’ll visit Yad Vashem, the Jewish nation’s memorial to the Holocaust.

On Saturdays and Jewish holidays,
Instead of a visit to Yad Vashem, we’ll drive to Ein Karem, traditionally considered the birthplace of John the Baptist and stroll the narrow lanes of this picturesque neighborhood, stopping by Mary’s Spring and visiting the remarkable Church of Saint John the Baptist. B

Today we’ll leave Jerusalem and drive through the Judean hills to the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth. Here we’ll visit a shop dedicated to local Dead Sea products and drive along the shore to Masada. You’ll learn of the heroic story of the Jewish fighters and their battle against the legions of Rome. We’ll ascend the heights by cable car and tour Herod’s mountain fortress, visiting the remains of the defensive walls, Herod’s palace, the synagogue and cisterns, all the while taking in views of the Roman camps below. Upon leaving Masada, we’ll head to the Dead Sea. After a float in the mineral-rich waters, you might cover yourself with the dark, shore-side mud that many believe has real therapeutic effects. After a day equally inspiring and relaxing, we’ll get you back to Jerusalem. B
