An Exceptional Tour for Israel’s Second Timer

During your first visit to Israel, you undoubtedly visited many of the religious and historical points of interest, but had limited time and therefore may have missed out on the other side of Israel. The country is certainly even more special the second time around and with the personal attention and relaxed pace of a private guide we hope to incorporate new sites and visits that will astound and intrigue. As each day unfolds, you will be filled with sensations that will leave you wanting to see more and more. We, at Dan Tours, enjoyed this very special tour and found ourselves eager to begin each day of adventure. We hope you will be just as excited as you embark on this journey to Israel . . . “The Second Time Around.”

Day 1 – Wednesday

Welcome to Israel! Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv where you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Jerusalem. Spend the afternoon and early evening unpacking and getting familiar with your hotel. Tonight, enjoy the “Night Spectacular” Sound and Light show at the Citadel Museum located just minutes from your hotel.

Day 2 – Thursday

It will be a fantastic and unusual day starting with a Segway tour where you will ride through the three magnificent Jerusalem promenades – Haas,
Sherover and Goldman. Enjoy the spectacular views of the Old City, Mount of Olives, Mount Scopus and much more. After, continue to the City of
David and explore the excavations, Warren’s shaft and walk through the waters at the bottom of Hezekiah’s Tunnels to the Shiloach Pools. In the
evening, your guide will suggest some wonderful newly established pedestrian areas in Jerusalem that are just a short walk or taxi ride from your
hotel. Shops and restaurants are open late as it is the eve of the lively Israeli weekend. (B)

Day 3 – Friday

A revisit to Yad Vashem, the memorial to the Holocaust, is a must following the decade long restoration project which expanded the museum and added many more exhibits. Next, head to the Mahane Yehuda Market for a delightful “Shuk Bites” experience. Meet with the colorful vendors who will
captivate you with their personal stories while you taste their Israeligrown vegetables, spices, freshly baked breads, meat delicacies, pastries and so much more! It is a culinary delight! Return to the hotel before joining the throngs of visitors at the illuminated Western Wall for a unique and moving experience. You will see the soldiers and Jerusalemites sing and dance to welcome the Jewish Sabbath. Join a Jerusalem family for an absolutely delicious home cooked meal as part of the “Shabbat of a Lifetime” program or, if you prefer, have Shabbat dinner at your hotel.(B,D)

Day 4 – Saturday

Today is a lovely day to explore at leisure. Enjoy the hotel’s facilities and the ambiance of the golden city. Tonight, be sure to stop by the Mamilla Pedestrian Mall with its many cafes, boutiques and pubs which is located close to your hotel. (B)

Day 5 – Sunday

You are going to love the Menachem Begin Museum, one of the newest additions to Jerusalem’s fantastic lineup of museums. Using the life story of the 6th Prime Minister of Israel, visitors are taken on a journey through history using reconstructions, original items, rare documentary shorts, re-enactments, interactive displays, dramatic lighting and an inspiring soundtrack. After, travel 10 minutes south of Jerusalem to Kibbutz Etzion for an exciting audio-visual presentation that brings the heroic story and fierce battle of Gush Etzion to life. You will be offered a choice of ‘surprise activities’ that will definitely be worth writing home about. Activity choices will be made available at the time of booking with your Dan Tours travel expert and will surely be one of the most memorable highlights of your trip! Next, visit a local winery for some wine tasting before returning to the Old City of Jerusalem for the Old City rooftop tour – another incredible experience. Here, you will see Jerusalem from an entirely different perspective. If you have ever wondered how the affluent families of Jerusalem live, you will be able to see their gorgeous private homes and gardens in the courtyards of the Old City. End the day revisiting some of your favorite areas of the Old City. (B)

Day 6 – Monday

Get in a good sleep this morning before heading south to Mitzpe Ramon. On your way you will stop at the Dead Sea, which sits 1,400 feet below sea level. Visit a Dead Sea spa hotel where we have arranged for you the use of the facilities and enjoy a ‘float’ in the sea’s unique mineral enriched waters. Have lunch at the spa hotel before continuing through the Negev to Mitzpe Ramon and the most spectacular resort in Israel! The Beresheet Hotel & Spa is built on the edge of the Ramon Crater, one of the most impressive, natural geological phenomena on the face of the earth. You will never want to leave this breathtaking resort! Enjoy a fabulous 50-minute spa treatment during your stay and in the evening, a delicious buffet dinner at the resort.(B,L,D)

Mitzpeh Ramon

A fabulous desert adventure begins as you head out on a morning jeep ride with our expert naturalist. Discover the Ramon Crater, the largest of its kind and one of only seven like it in the world, dating back 220 million years! Next, travel to Tel Aviv and Old Jaffa, where you will be amazed by the newly developed flea market full of cafes and great shopping! If there is time, you will get a chance to stroll through the artists’ galleries in Jaffa. We will also make a quick stop at the Tachana, another newly developed area, where an old railroad station has been converted into beautiful restaurants and shops. You can stay here for dinner or return to the hotel with your guide where there are many restaurant options on the beachfront promenade or at the Tel Aviv Port (“Namal”) – another newly developed area not to be missed! In the summer, there are a lot of open air concerts, like the “White Nights” festivals, taking place around the city.
